The DLM Story

I started working construction in 1993, at a small Colorado company called Moltz Construction. As an entry-level laborer, I spent many years doing about everything that might be needed on a job site and learning from real masters of the craft (this was a bit before the industry had fully embraced the “fastest and cheapest” mentality, so I was certainly taught the value of putting care and attention into everything I was doing—often with a light slap to the head).

I stayed with Moltz and worked my way up from Laborer to Carpenter, then Foreman, and then Superintendent. After successfully overseeing a number of projects as Superintendent, I was promoted to Division Manager and built everything from custom homes to grocery stores, banks, roads, bridges, and wastewater treatment plants.

I continued to practice the techniques and care that I was taught early on at Moltz, and took over as president of the organization in YEAR. I’m incredibly proud of those years, but as we scaled to over 200 employees I found myself longing to get back to the basics. Frankly, I missed the days of pouring my heart and soul into a custom home and connecting with the people who would spend their lives there.

So I left Moltz in 2023, and as a family we decided to move somewhere close to Stillwater, Oklahoma where my daughter was attending college at Oklahoma State University. We found a beautiful span of land in Mannford, right between Tulsa and Oklahoma City, and I started DLM Constructors with my son, Gage.

My goal with DLM is to show people in Oklahoma how good a general contractor can actually be, especially when it comes to ICF and custom concrete homes. There’s just not many people out here (or maybe anywhere) who have the experience and attention to detail required to build a quality, multi-generational structure. I’m also a certified home inspector, so I’ve seen countless homeowners who hired an “experienced” GC and ended up with heartbreak, regret, and a mediocre home. That isn’t right, and we shouldn’t accept it.

I’d also like to pass down everything I’ve learned about construction to my son and the entire DLM team. With over 30 years of experience to pull from, I think I can help establish a new generation of builders who once again value craftsmanship and doing the right thing when no one is looking. Community is everything to me, and this would be a great service to everyone in the state.
